An oral anticoagulant, such as warfarin (Coumadin) or rivaroxaban (Xarelto), would be given because
of his history of multiple DVT and atrial flutter and fibrillation.

 Decrease in mobility related to shortness of breath and rheumatoid arthritis
 History of atrial flutter or fibrillation
 Previous DVT
 70 years of age
 Lifetime history of sedentary jobs
