Answer to Question 1

A
Bladder traumas signal themselves with pain, spasm, and a mass in the suprapubic area. These findings are not consistent with a damaged kidney, urethral tear, or splenic rupture.

Answer to Question 2

C
Use of open-ended questions demonstrates a caring attitude and a willingness to listen. Telling the patient that she knows how he feels is incorrect and will be viewed as insincere. The patient feels less masculine as a result of infertility. It is premature and inappropriate to discuss options for alternative means of conception. Telling the patient that the diagnosis is not the end of the world minimizes the patient's concerns.
