Answer to Question 1

A, B, C, D
Preoperative medications are given to reduce anxiety, decrease mucus production, counteract nausea, and enhance anesthesia. Many preoperative medications depress ventilation.

Answer to Question 2

B
About 200,000 new brain tumors are discovered each year in the United States with approx-imately 40,000 of those being primary tumors and the rest are metastatic tumors from a different site of origin. Many primary brain tumors are benign. Telling the patient his question doesn't re-ally matter is dismissive and nontherapeutic.
