  1. T3 of 80-200 ng/dL
  2. Growth hormone of less than 5ng/mL
  3. Cortisol level of 8 to 10 a.m. 5-23 mcg/dL
  4. T4 level of 12.1-13.2 mcg/dL

A client has a fasting blood glucose of 180. The nurse should expect the physician to order which test?

2. Growth hormone does not indicate hyperthyroidism.
3. A cortisol level will not indicate hyperthyroidism.
4. The T4 is high which would be expected in a client experiencing hyperthyroidism.

1. The client with a fasting glucose of 180 may have diabetes. The physician would order further glucose tests and urine for glucose and ketones.
2. Aldosterone controls water and sodium balance.
3. Serum calcium level does not affect the blood glucose level.
4. A water deprivation tests assesses the functioning of the pituitary gland.
