1. The antivirals are only effective if serum blood levels of the drug remain constant. The client should be taught to take the medication as ordered.
2. Some of the antivirals cause skin irritation, so the nurse should caution the client against spending time in the sun.
3. The client should be instructed to report any side effects.
4. The client must notify the primary care physician of any kind of infection and must not treat the infection at home.
