Answer to Question 1

Answer: B, D

The risk factors for erectile dysfunction are numerous. They include advancing age, diseases such as heart disease and diabetes, trauma, and the use of prescription or illicit drugs. Excessive use of alcohol can also result in erectile dysfunction. Recreational sports, a body mass index within normal limits, and a normal blood pressure would not provide a possible cause for the client's recent experience with the disorder.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: B

A client's health history can provide clues to the underlying cause of impotence. The question for what diseases and disorders have you been treated would provide the nurse with information as to possible causes for the recent onset of the disorder. Asking the client if the impotence occurs often will not help identify the cause of the problem. Asking the client how the partner feels about the problem also will not help identify a possible cause. The question are you on any medication? would be beneficial to ask; however, it should be an open-ended question and not a closed-ended question as identified. The nurse should ask the client to list any medications instead of asking are you on any medication? which could be answered with a yes or no.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
