Answer to Question 1

Answer: D

One risk factor for contracting HIV is the use of intravenous recreational drugs. This question is appropriate to determine the client's risk for HIV. The client's first sexual experience is not applicable to the client's current risk for HIV. Assessing recent symptoms, and asking if the client's partner is experiencing the same symptoms, does not assess the client's risk factors for HIV transmission.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: A

A child with an immune disorder such as HIV/AIDS should not be immunized with a live varicella vaccine, because of the risk of contracting the disease. DTaP, HIB, and hepatitis B vaccinations are not live vaccines, and should be given on schedule.
