Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 3

This artery can be palpated by feeling the dorsum of the foot on an imaginary line from the middle of the ankle to the space between the big and second toe; therefore, this technique is appropriate. The other techniques described are not appropriate when checking pedal pulses.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 2

An apical pulse is assessed at the apex of the heart. An apical pulse cannot be assessed at the brachial, carotid, and radial sites.
