Answer to Question 1

Ryan's scoutmaster refused to approve his Eagle Scout application
because he was openly gay. Many scouts around the country have returned their merit
badges in protest. His mother said to NBC News that the Scoutmaster is sending Ryan
the message that he's not a valued human being and I want Ryan to know that he is
valued. Do you believe the scoutmaster was justified in refusing to award the Eagle
Scout award to Ryan? If you believe he was not justified, what reasons can you develop
in support of your argument? If you believe he was justified, what reasons can you
develop to tell Ryan and his mother?

Answer to Question 2

Should groups like the Boy Scouts
have a right to prohibit homosexuals from serving in leadership positions regardless of
city and state laws? Should they have a right to local tax money to support their
activities?
