Stereotyping is expecting a person to act in a characteristic way without regard to his or her individual traits. Ethnocentrism is the belief one's own culture is superior to all others as exemplified by the statement, City people are smarter than those who live in the suburbs.. Discrimination is treating people differently based on their physical or cultural traits, or by performing an act. The statements that exemplify discrimination are kids who study are just nerds and I stay away from people who live downtown because they look funny..
