Answer to Question 1

A
Cervidil is a cervical ripening agent, so hyperstimulation of the uterus can occur. Cervidil contains 10 mg of PGE2 that is released at approximately 0.3 mg per hour over 12 hours.
The insert is placed transversely in the posterior fornix of the vagina, and the client is kept supine for 2 hours but then may ambulate. One benefit of Cervidil is that the insert may be
removed if hyperstimulation (tachysystole) or active labor begins.

Answer to Question 2

D
