Answer to Question 1

B
Physiologic anemia is a normal occurrence of pregnancy, resulting from increased vascular dilution due to the increased red blood cell mass. Usually the diastolic pressure decreases because of increased vascular capacity and compliance, as compensatory mechanisms for the increased blood volume of pregnancy. Hypercoagulability results in the increased risk of deep vein thrombosis. Pregnancy-induced hypertension is a complication of pregnancy.

Answer to Question 2

C
Because of its consistency and its contamination with botulism spores, honey should be avoided. Seafood, egg yolks, and orange juice can be added to the 12-month-old infant's intake.
