Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
Because the placenta is implanted very low with placenta previa, bleeding is most likely to occur in the last trimester when the cervical os begins to open in preparation for childbirth. Ectopic pregnancy, spontaneous abortion, and hydatidiform mole are identified in early pregnancy (usually in the first trimester).

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
With an ectopic pregnancy, the fertilized ovum implants in tissue outside of the uterus, usually the fallopian tube. The woman is at risk for hemorrhage, shock, and death. Vaginal bleeding is often minimal because the blood loss is inside of the abdominal cavity and has no way to exit the body. Every effort is made to preserve an affected fallopian tube, and future conception possible with one fallopian tube.

It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
