Answer to Question 1

As written, while Shasta Shirtwerkz is profitable, there are no obvious integration synergies that would move an asset from a low valued use to a higher one. In fact, the question states that Titan would simply fold Shasta into its product offerings implying few, if any, changes in operations. When you buy a customer simply because it is profitable, you will tend to pay the net present value of its stream of future profits.

It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
