Answer to Question 1

Absolute poverty is the absence of enough money to purchase life's necessities, such as food, clothing, and shelter. Relative poverty is a comparison of the economic condition of those at the bottom of a society with that of other strata. Thus, a basketball player in the National Basketball Association who earns the minimum salary of 300,000 suffers from relative poverty in relation to the superstars of the league. However, that player could not be considered to be poverty-stricken from an absolute standpoint.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
