Answer to Question 1

A subculture shares the overall culture society, but maintains a distinctive set of value, norms, and lifestyles; one example is the Greek system at universities. A counterculture has values, interests, beliefs, and lifestyles that conflict with those of the larger culture; one example is punkers.

Answer to Question 2

Values are shared ideas about desirable goals or standards. Norms are behaviors; they are shaped by values and the means for achieving goals.
