There will be a decent amount of personal perspective here, but student answers should include the following: MOOCs, or massive open online courses, have been adopted by many prestigious universities including Stanford, MIT, and Harvard. This model challenges the traditional learning arrangement found in universities by delivering content to classes as large as 10,000 students at a time often for free. From a conflict theorists standpoint, this arrangement only strengthens their argument that education is less about skills and knowledge and more about credentials and certifications as MOOCs do not offer credit or a degree.
