A status refers to a social identity, a social position. A role is a behavior that is expected of a person occupying a certain status.

Answer to Question 2

Primary  close friends, family; Secondary  co-workers, club members. Primary form for expressive reasons (companionship, emotional support); Secondary  instrumental reasons (common goals).
