Answer to Question 1

The major arguments against women in combat positions, especially ground infantry units, is that they do not have the physical strength or aggressive nature needed for the job, that they would disrupt the cohesiveness and bonding that occurs among men in combat and that it violates deep-seated cultural values regarding manhood and womanhood in Western civilization.

Answer to Question 2

The majority of women, worldwide, still lag far behind men in power, wealth, and opportunity. Women are hired later when jobs are expanding and are let go quicker when jobs contract. They generally have the less prestigious and lowest-paying jobs, a situation found in nations at all levels of development. In most places women lag behind men in enrollment in high school and college. In addition, around the world, women in educational occupations tend to be employed at the lower levels, teaching in primary schools rather than in the more prestigious and higher-paying postsecondary school positions. Worldwide, women are poorly represented in political positions where important decisions are made. Finally, poor women in many developing nations have been among the major victims of the capitalist world economy.
