In addition, around the world, women in educational occupations tend to be employed at the lower levels, teaching in primary schools rather than in the more prestigious and higher-paying postsecondary school positions. Worldwide, women are poorly represented in political positions where important decisions are made. Finally, poor women in many developing nations have been among the major victims of the capitalist world economy.
