The Occupy Wall Street movement was characterized by a considerable support for the government to take responsibility for trying to solve social problems such as crime, poverty, and environmental pollution. The Tea Party movement resulted from pressure due to increasing belief that government can be a hindrance to the solution of many problems and should play only a limited role in attacking them.
