Answer to Question 2

Neuronal networks (neural networks) are constellations of neurons that are wired together. These networks are memories. The biochemical foundation for how these circuits create memories is unknown. Long-term potentiation involves long-lasting increases in the strength of synaptic connections caused by repeated stimulation of these connections. Current research suggests that long-term potentiation plays an important role in converting short-term memories into long-term memories. Repetition of newly learned information may help strengthen these connections. Elaboration on the meaning of new information also helps strengthen memories of newly acquired information.
