Answer to Question 1

In the classroom, gender bias means consistently responding differently to male and female students without having sound educational reasons for doing so. Research shows that gender bias does occur. This is probably related to traditional gender-role stereotypes, embraced by the prevailing culture that accepts impulsive and unruly behavior from boys and expects orderliness and obedience from girls.

Answer to Question 2

Intrinsic motivation is enhanced when reinforcement is given according to a predetermined standard of excellence or is consistent with the individual's skill level.
