Author Question: How many valence electrons do most atoms want and how many does hydrogen want? (Read 621 times)

On my chemistry homework, the question which is fill in the blank reads as follows:
Most atoms want_____ valence electrons-but, hydrogen only wants _____valence electrons.

Well from what I've learnt in 7yrs of chemistry. The first shell of a atom holds only 2 electrons, the next shells can hold up to 8. If the world was perfect, all atoms would have a full shell of either 8 or 2. so basically they wan't to be full. hydrogen only has 1 outer shell electron(valence) and to make 2 it needs one more :)
