On my chemistry homework, the question which is fill in the blank reads as follows:
Most atoms want_____ valence electrons-but, hydrogen only wants _____valence electrons.

Well from what I've learnt in 7yrs of chemistry. The first shell of a atom holds only 2 electrons, the next shells can hold up to 8. If the world was perfect, all atoms would have a full shell of either 8 or 2. so basically they wan't to be full. hydrogen only has 1 outer shell electron(valence) and to make 2 it needs one more
