Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

Contracts are focused on carrying out specific activities, while covenants are focused on maintaining the relationship. Contracts are agreements made in suspicion, while covenants are agreements made in trust. While covenants are based on mutual interest, contracts are based on self-interest. Contracts are based on laws and built on fear and blame. Covenants, on the other hand, are based on grace and built on trust and repair. While contracts limit the parties, covenants nourish the parties. Contracts are based on limited purposes and limited commitments, while covenants are based on unlimited promises, pledges, and commitments. The parties involved in the contracts have limited or episodic contact as needed. Covenantal relationships are based on continuous fellowship, faithfulness, and mercy. Any kind of wrongdoing by the parties involved in the contracts results in punishment; while the same for parties involved in covenantal relationships results in reconciliation. Contracts are entered into for mutual advantages and are limited to the parties involved in the contract. Covenants, on the other hand, promote a cause to which all advantages are subject to being sacrificed for the sake of the cause. Covenants also extend to family and to the larger community who are affected by the relationship.
