Answer to Question 1

A typical brainstorming session proceeds as follows: First, group members sit around a table, and one member of the group describes the problem or opportunity in need of a response. Second, group members are encouraged to share their own ideas with the rest of the group in a free and open manner without any critical evaluation of the ideas. Third, group members are urged to share ideas no matter how far-fetched they may seem, in order to come up with as many ideas as they can, and to build on one anothers' suggestions. Fourth, one member of the group records the ideas on a chalkboard or flip chart, as they are presented.

Answer to Question 2

Achievement motivationthe quest for excellencerefers to the strength of an individual's desire to excel. People who are low in achievement motivation like easy tasks since they are virtually certain to succeed in performing them. They also prefer very difficult tasks, even though they are likely to fail at them. If a task were particularly difficult, failing at that task would not be their fault but merely a reflection of the inherent difficulty of the task. Since their failure to perform would depend on external circumstances, failure would not threaten their self-esteem. On the other hand, people who are high in achievement motivation prefer tasks of moderate difficulty. Such tasks are easy enough to make success reasonable while at the same time sufficiently difficult to make it possible to dismiss any resulting failure based on the task's difficulty.
