Answer to Question 1

D
Explanation: D) Expectancy theory says that employees put in effort on a task to the degree they believe their effort will result in increased performance, and that increased performance will be rewarded with something they value. All of these are situations that won't result in a lasting increase in motivation according to expectancy theory. If the reward is not something the employee wants, they won't be motivated to work harder to earn it. In the situation where an employee can't increase their performance by increasing their effort, they won't be motivated. Employees also won't be motivated to maintain their high level of performance if they are not rewarded for it.

Answer to Question 2

D
Explanation: D) Maslow's theory has staying power and is still used by managers even without evidence of its effectiveness.
