Answer to Question 1

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act was created to protect the rights of employees. It prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. There are also other laws that prohibit pay equity and discrimination against individuals over 40 years of age, individuals with disabilities, and individuals who are pregnant. This does not mean that an employer must hire you if you are a minority, pregnant, over 40, or have a disability. If you are asked a question that could be discriminatory, do not directly answer the question. Instead, address the issue. For example, if the interviewer states, Are you over 40? you should answer, I'm not sure what age has to do with the job, but I can assure you I have excellent experience with a demonstrated track record of success.
