A binary one-to-one relationship can be represented in three ways: (1 ) the primary key of the first entity can serve as a foreign key of the second entity; (2 ) the primary key of the second entity can serve as a foreign key of the first entity; or (3 ) each entity's primary key can serve as a foreign key of the other entity.
