The business intelligence that executives need to make better decisions is often less structured in strategic levels than at the operational or even management level. Top-level executives certainly need summary and historical data from the company's own transactional systems and data warehouses. But they also need business intelligence that draws on big data, to learn more about their rivals, their industry's landscape, and overall economic trends.
