RAD is rather specific on the shape and composition of JAD workshops. There is a facilitator who acts as a coordinator and an interpreter between business and technical people. The optimal environment is a U-shaped room as far away from the work area as possible to prevent disruption or distraction. The room is equipped with conferencing paraphernalia and computers on which CASE tools are installed.
