1. Utility. Viewing the IT infrastructure as a utility means that firms view it as a necessary and unavoidable expense that should be minimized.
2. Dependent. A business that ties its infrastructure investment to specific known business programs takes the dependent view.
3. Enabling. A firm that develops and continually modifies its infrastructure in coalignment with its business strategy takes the enabling view.
