To communicate using public key cryptography, each party in a transaction must have:
 
  (a) A private key.
  (b) A public key.
  (c) A KDC.
  (d) Both (a) and (b).

When transmitting a message using a KDC,
 
  (a) the KDC generates a session key and sends it to both the merchant and the customer.
