Answer to Question 1

C
Crew Resource Management (CRM) is a type of effective team management that emphasizes communication, assertiveness, situational awareness, problem solving, decision making, and teamwork. The primary goal of CRM is situational awareness, not enhanced communication. Situational awareness pertains to the degree of accuracy by which an individual's perception of the environment truly mirrors reality; hence it is the key component to being able to fully identify any discrepancy between what is happening and what should be happening.

Answer to Question 2

B
Todd Bishop, a crew resource management expert, designed a five-step process for building assertive statements that includes advocacy and inquiry steps. These five steps are: 1) opening or attention getter, 2) state your concern, 3) state the problem as you see it, 4) state a solution, and 5) obtain agreement (or buy-in). When Nurse X tells Mr. Z's physician that Mr. Z has a pulse of 160, she has implemented the second step (state your concern).
