Answer to Question 1

3
Explanation: 1. The managers ability to work the unit is not the same as the manager working alongside staff.
The manager will confront staff once absenteeism has increased in occurrence and/or
frequency. The managers lack of supervision on the unit does not allow for the manager to
motivate staff, assist with issues, assist staff, and assess and address issues as they occur.

Answer to Question 2

2
Explanation: 1. Organizational practices can influence an employees motivation to work. Offering on-site
child care is something that organizations can do to influence employees ability to attend
work. Enriched jobs may increase attendance motivation because employees believe that what
they are doing is important and because they know that other employees are dependent on
them. Absence culture is the culture that can influence an employees motivation to work.
Generational differences do not apply to this question.
