The patient expresses concern about the confidentiality of his medical information since, so much of it gets faxed around nowadays. How should the nurse respond to this concern?
 
  1. The hospital follows the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which identifies steps we must take to keep your information confidential.
  2. Since computers have moved away from linear thinking to a greater systems approach, concerns about information confidentiality have decreased.
  3. We use point-of care, a documentation system that will not allow your information to be shared.
  4. This is a really big concern. You never know who could be reading those faxes that we send. There is no way to be sure that they are really going to the person they are sent to.
