Elder abuse is a form of family violence that is becoming more apparent. Many cases go unreported. A nurse makes a home visit to a frail elderly person's home. Adult maltreatment would be suspected if:
 
  1. There is a lot of uneaten food in the house that was provided by a relative who comes and goes.
  2. The windows of the house are broken.
  3. The elderly person spends a great deal of time watching television.
  4. The outside is not maintained, and there are dogs running loose in the yard.
