Extreme poverty in the form of homelessness affects women, children, and minorities more often than others. Those who are homeless:
 
  1. Need more nursing care than other vulnerable groups
  2. Have no desire to seek medical care
  3. Have even fewer resources than poor people who have adequate housing
  4. Are living in despair with no hope or resilience
