Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

Interventionist states own most important companies and control entire industries. These industries provide jobs, goods, and servicesand in theory, the government uses the profits from such enterprises to improve the lives of everyone in society.
Many states also intervene in the economy by setting belowmarket prices on certain goodssuch as food and gasolineto protect consumers.
Other governments attempt to manipulate the value of the national currency for political purposes.
Example: In China, a key way the government intervenes in the economy is by artificially undervaluing its currency relative to other countries' currencies. This makes it cheaper for people in other countries to buy Chinese exportsand, thus, helps Chinese firms build market share around the world. Like many other countries, China also restricts many kinds of imports, to make them more expensive relative to domestically produced goods.
