Why do major political parties adopt the central principles of ideological parties?
 
  a. Doing so broadens the base of the major party and drains the influence of the ideological party.
  b. Doing so allows the major party to widen its views and principles.
  c. Doing so helps supporters have more choice for acceptable candidates.
  d. Doing so brings stronger economic support to the major party.
