b. Examine how present realities, including the 2015 terror attacks in Paris and later in San Bernadino, have complicated what exactly it means for peace to return.
c. Analyze the consequence of the permanence of war on presidential power by noting that the forces of globalization, American hegemony, and the nature of contemporary threats to the United States make a retreat into isolationism untenable.
d. Assess how this paves the way for an even more influential presidency in the twenty-first century than the one that came before it and could lead to a permanent increase in the power of the president to leverage war to advance his or her domestic agenda.
