Answer to Question 1

FALSE

Answer to Question 2

An ideal response will:
1, Identify instances when interests of the press have clashed with governmental priorities.
2, Discuss the idea of reporter's privilege and the passage of state press shield laws.
3, Explain that the Supreme Court generally supports freedom of the press and no prior restraint, even in matters of national security.
4, Note that no prior restraint does not prevent authors and publishers from being sued after the fact for defamation or libel, and mention that reporters have been jailed for refusing to cooperate with criminal investigations.
