How does the belief in democratic peace get translated into U.S. foreign policy?

  a. Because peace can be achieved only in democratic countries, where there are no rebels wanting to overthrow the government, helping to establish democracies around the world will promote international peace.
  b. Democracy creates societies that are less violent than those with other forms of government, and therefore the United States should back any insurgents who want to overthrow a repressive government and create a democracy.
  c. Because democratic countries are more likely to be open to mutual cooperation and less likely to wage war, the United States should actively encourage other countries to become democracies in order to promote international peace.
  d. Democratic peace means that the government of a country and its people are in agreement, so the United States should be prepared to serve as a mediator in any country where a government and its people are at odds to help them reach agreement.
