An ideal response will:
1, Indicate that in the United States the executive branch and legislative branch are separate. The public elects the president indirectly through the Electoral College, but makes separate decisions for members of Congress.
2, Indicate that in the English parliamentary system, the voters select a party, and the majority party in the Parliament selects the prime minister from within their legislative body. Thus the legislative and executive branches are not separated the way they are in the United States.
