It has allowed more sustained contact between the immigrant and home country.

Answer to Question 2

The first model is that immigrants will leave behind their home cultures and become part of the melting pot of America; the second is that some groups of immigrants will assimilate better and more quickly than others; and the third model is that assimilation is experienced differently by different groups and also different individuals.
