Answer to Question 1

They both exist to regulate marriage as an institution. Exogamy is a rule that specifies that a person must marry outside a particular group and endogamy is a rule that specifies that a person must marry within a particular group.

Answer to Question 2

The marriage broker has more information about a wider network of families than any one family can have, and they are able to conduct offers that do not affect the status of the individuals if one is rejected.
