Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

Explain why reading aloud to young children is the single most important activity for promoting early literacy development.

Storybook reading promotes positive attitudes toward books and provides motivation for children to want to learn to read books on their own. Storybook reading familiarizes young children with decontextualized language and complex grammar. It also expands their vocabulary knowledge, their knowledge about print, and their conceptual knowledge.
