Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

Describe a context or situation that develops oral language comprehension.
(Responses may include language experiences, substantive conversations or instruction. A sample response is provided below. All responses should define the context and explain a few of its features.)

Substantive conversation is a context that develops oral language comprehension. It is an extended dialogue between adult and child on a topic or idea. Adults can use different strategies to create a rich dialogue, such as clarifying and extending the talk, asking and answering question and/or thinking aloud. These strategies help children to use words to describe, explain and comment. Children also create substantive conversations between one another.
