Answer to Question 1

A
Employment of LPNs/LVNs in hospital settings is at a high level. Because of health care economics, hospitals are responsible for providing quality care as economically as possible. Under the supervision of an RN, the LPN/LVN is legally able to provide most bedside care to patients in the hospital setting. Because the LPN/LVN salary is less than that of the RN, it makes economic sense to employ a number of LPNs/LVNs. It also makes sense because the LPN/LVN is prepared to give excellent bedside care. This is his or her specialty.
