By the time students are in middle and high school, they can decode words,
 
  a. and basically do not need any additional assistance from the teacher.
  b. but they still need assistance in phonics instruction.
  c. and only need the teachers' assistance with book selection.
  d. but they still need help understanding the content that they are reading.

Question 2

When helping adolescents develop the appropriate reading and information literacy strategies to use with informational books, content teachers can:
 
  a. rely mainly on textbooks because they are sequentially written with an accepted scope and sequence.
  b. use young adult nonfiction as a core book, a supplement to the text, a part of interdisciplinary instruction, or for independent reading.
  c. work alone because by this timecollaboration is not needed since curricular integration is no longer a mainstay of the middle and secondary curriculum.
  d. rely solely fiction for young adult readers since nonfiction is rarely appropriate.
