Answer to Question 1

The amount of importance a teacher assigns to a quiz, assignment, or test will directly influence how much importance students assign to these activities. If you emphasize homework by allowing homework points to count significantly in student grades they are likely to give homework more time and effort. Often teachers emphasize the importance of homework in class but fail to give its completion a significant role in the students' grades. In general, a teacher's grading system should emphasize in varying proportions the types of work and performance you believe are most important. In grading an expert teacher remembers that words should equal actions  if conceptual understanding is stressed in class it should be stressed on assessments. Grades should be computed in a manner that reflects the skills taught. Smooth, consistent, and fair grading systems are essential to maintain student enthusiasm and motivation and to ensure that grades reflect student learning accurately.

Answer to Question 2

Measures of central tendency: mean, median, mode. Measures of dispersion: range, standard deviation, and variance.
